Touched Series
In "Touched," a series of sculptured ceramic pieces, I explore the relationship between the artist's hand and the natural material. Through gentle manipulation and deliberate incisions, I mold the clay into desired forms using careful movements, creating soft and organic shapes that evoke the vulnerability of human flesh. The subtle curves and contours invite viewers to contemplate the human experience. By emphasising the sensual quality of the material, "Touched" encourages a visceral response.
This body of work is complemented by my "Skin" series, which explores the parallels between human aging and the natural world. As skin wrinkles and develops textures with age, so too do trees and barks. The "Skin" series captures this transition, revealing the beauty and fragility of growing older. Together, "Touched" and "Skin" form a narrative of life's journey, from the vulnerability of youth to the marks and changes that come with time.
